We’re excited to share a cool project done with a great team and for a great cause. We recently had the privilege of designing the can for an exclusive cocktail created for the Ozzie & Friends Gala and Charity Golf Event, held in partnership with PGA REACH Gateway. 

Our design approach for the Backflip Paloma was to “flip” expectations for how a baseball legend and golf could come together as a theme. The design blended a baseball with the dimple pattern of a golf ball, with both the laces and dimples raised on the can to create a tactile experience in your hand. The clean and modern design draws your attention to the logo and playful treatment of the Backflip name.

In addition to this special beverage, we also designed a truly limited-edition and exclusive can series that was offered up for auction. The series featured 13 unique cans, one for each of Ozzie Smith’s Gold Gloves he won during his career. Each can featured a pennant with the year and was hand-signed by Ozzie. 

This was a true team effort and demonstrates the end-to-end beverage capabilities right here in St. Louis. In addition to our creative work, Beck Flavors developed the Paloma recipe and formulation utilizing their exclusive flavoring and beverage creation capabilities, Beverage Solution Partners produced and canned the cocktail with their pilot batch capabilities and high-speed canning line, and DigiCan printed the tactile cans using their first-of-its-kind high-speed digital printing technology.
